This article explains how to troubleshoot missing information on printed labels.

Prescriber Name Missing from Medication Labels

If the prescriber name does not appear on medication labels, the label template is likely missing the placeholder. To add a placeholder, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Settings > General > Integrations > Label printing.

  2. Under Label templates, find the medication label template.

  3. Ensure the template includes the placeholder for the supervising veterinarian: [[medicine_vet]]. (To see all available placeholders, type [[.)

Expiry and Batch Number Missing from Medicine Labels

If the expiry and batch number are missing from some medicine labels, these items probably do not have an assigned batch number and expiry date.

  • Check the stock levels and batch for the items that do not display the expiry date and batch number on the label

  • If no batch numbers and expiry dates are showing, check the template again as the placeholders might be missing.

Partial Information Visible When Printing Labels

If only part of the required information is visible when printing the label:

  1. Check that the labels are correctly loaded into the label printer.

  2. Check the template to ensure all information fits in the preview.

    • Go to Settings > General > Integrations > Label printing.

    • Under Label templates, find the relevant label template.

    • Select Edit pen to adjust the label. If you are using a PDF printer, a preview of the label is displayed, and you can make adjustments until satisfied.

  3. Check Label Size in Settings, To check the label size:

    • Go to Settings > General > Integrations > Label printing.

    • At the end of the line for the current label printer, select the Edit/pen icon. (This opens the setup window for the selected label printer and affects all labels printed from this printer.)

    • Confirm the printer name to verify you have opened the correct printer.

    • Label preset will display "Customised" if you are using anything other than the preset labels in the drop-down list.

    • Label Height and Label Width: Enter the label dimensions here. Adjust the size and check the preview to achieve the desired result.

Note

Increasing the top margin adds space to the top (moves the text down). Decreasing the top margin moves the text up (decreases the space at the top). The bottom margin works the same: Increasing the bottom margin add space at the bottom, and decreasing the bottom margin remove space at the bottom. Right and left margins behave the same way.

For assistance with the layout and placeholders, for PDF label printing, see Recommended Configurations for PDF Label Printing.

Remove information from labels

To remove information you do not want to appear on the label:

  1. Go to Settings > General > Integrations > Label printing.

  2. Under Label templates, find the label template.

  3. Check the label template and Remove the placeholder or text for the unnecessary information to display only the required information.

Prevent Printing Medication Labels When Charging Injectables

Currently, to avoid printing medication labels when charging injectables:

  • Select Save instead of Print label when the print option appears. The label will not print on the label printer. There is no other way to prevent printing labels at this time.

Note

Accessing and modifying label templates in Settings may require specific user permissions.
