When you create a boarding reservation, two separate appointments are created - one for the check-in time and one for the check-out time. The check-in appointment is used for processing the patient's visit and handling the consultation activities and items.
Checking a patient in is an optional step. You can also skip the check-in step and start the consultation directly.
Open the patient's appointment in one of the following ways:
In the Appointments calendar, right-click on the appointment and select Check in patient from the pop-up menu.
Select the appointment in the calendar to open it. In the Appointment details dialogue, select Check in patient.
On your Dashboard, find the appointment using the Upcoming filter under Scheduled appointments and select the Check in patient button on the appointment row.
On the Consultation details page, you can view and check the appointment details, edit them, and add notes.
When ready, select Check in patient.
Once you have checked the patient in, you can process the consultation in the same way as any regular consultation. Note, however, that a boarding consultation is a simplified version of a regular consultation - it does not include sections for referrals, diagnosis, clinical signs, diagnostics, and prescriptions.
