Add Multiple Patients to One Appointment

You can schedule appointments for multiple patients in one go. A multi-patient consultation includes the records of all the patients linked to the appointment.

This option is useful for routine visits such as vaccinations. For complex cases, it is best to create separate appointments and consultations. To maintain clarity and accuracy, especially for hospital stays and insurance claims, use separate consultations for each patient even if seen together.

Multi-patient appointments is a standard feature in Provet. No setup is needed.

Note: Multi-patient consultations are available in the old consultation view only. If you are using the new consultation view, this option is not yet available there.

Create an Appointment for Multiple Patients

To schedule an appointment for multiple patients, enter each patient's name in the Patient field when creating a new appointment. Then complete the other appointment details and save the appointment as usual.

Process a Multi-patient Consultation

Most steps in a multi-patient consultation are the same as for a single patient. Some steps let you apply information to all patients at once or to individual patients.

Check In the Patients

When the patients arrive, check them in as you normally would. On the check-in page, you can edit the information for all patients in the appointment.

Start the Consultation

Begin the consultation as you would for a single patient

View Multi-patient Indicators

Throughout the consultation, indicators show that the consultation includes multiple patients and which patients are included. The blue top bar stays visible as you scroll, and you can open each patient's history at any time.

Add Clinical Notes

When adding clinical notes, you can apply the same note to all patients in the consultation or select specific patients. If you choose all patients, the same note appears in each patient's record. See Write a Single Clinical Note per Patient in One Consultation.

Add Treatment Items

When adding treatment items to the consultation, you can apply the item to all patients or to selected patients in the consultation. See Add and Manage Treatment Items in a Consultation.

Add Diagnoses and Other Entries

When adding diagnoses or other information, you can apply the entry to multiple patients or individual patients. See Add a Diagnosis During a Consultation.

Add Discharge Instructions

By default, discharge instructions apply to all patients in the consultation, since they share the same owner. Add the note once under All patients, and it appears on every patient's record.

To add instructions for a specific patient, select that patient from the Select patient drop-down list in the side panel. A separate field, labeled with the patient's name, appears below the All patients field for that patient's own instructions.

View the Invoice

The invoice shows which patients the items are associated with.
