This article addresses common issues and solutions for managing shifts, including visibility problems, copying errors, and moving appointments.
Shifts Are Not Visible in the Shift View
If you cannot find a shift in the Calendar > Shifts view, check the filters on the left-hand menu. The calendar can be filtered by:
All clinic location shifts, shifts on other clinic locations, and day view
Users with shifts, or you can select specific users for veterinarians or support staff
Specific shift types
Specific resources
If the person you added the shift for is not selected in the filter menu, their shifts will not appear in the calendar.
Shifts Not Appearing in the Appointment Calendar
For a shift to appear in the appointment calendar, the Appointments checkbox in the shift type settings must be selected, or the Show also unbookable shifts filter checkbox must be ticked. If you are in a multi-location clinic, ensure the shift was added to the correct location.
Cannot Move Appointments to Another Shift
When you use the Move Appointment button, but no other shifts are available, it is likely because no other shifts are scheduled for the same time as the appointment.
Check the time of the appointments.
Ensure a shift is added for the same time.
"Conflicting Shifts" Error When Adding a Shift
If you are trying to add a shift for a vet and receive a "conflicting shifts" error, but no shifts are visible:
Check the filters on the left-hand side to ensure they are set to show the person's shifts. This will display all shifts for that person at your current location
If you are in a multi-location clinic, the person may have shifts in another location. Select the Shifts on other clinic locations checkbox to view them.
Copying Shifts: "Source first day and destination first day must be on the same week day" Error
This error means that you have selected different weekdays for copying. For example, you have set From this date as a Monday and Start copying shift(s) here as a Thursday. To copy shifts, the source and destination days must be the same weekday (e.g., "Monday to a Monday").

Copying Shifts: "Destination Week Is Not Empty" Error
The "Destination week is not empty" message indicates that a shift template has already been added to the week you are trying to copy to. Go to the shift view and check the dates for that week; a shift will already exist for the selected person.
No Shift Types Available to Choose From
Shift types and shift templates are specific to each clinic location. To add shift types to a location, you must first create them.
Changes to a Shift Type Did Not Update in the Calendar
When you make changes to a shift type, they do not automatically update shifts that have already been scheduled.
To apply the changes to existing shifts:
Delete the existing shifts for the relevant users and dates.
Re-add the shifts using the updated shift type.
The same applies to shift templates: changes to a template do not automatically update existing shifts already on the calendar.
Note that the Update existing shifts checkbox on the create or edit shift dialogue specifically concerns changes to reason types; nothing else will be changed.
