AI Scribe can be used in the Provet mobile app to record consultation notes using your phone. The consultation is open on desktop, and the mobile app is used for voice recording and transcription.
Note: The new consultation page is being released from 16 September 2026. It becomes the default consultation page on 28 September 2026, and the old consultation page is planned to be retired in October 2026. Until then, you can switch between the two versions from the top of the consultation page. This article covers both versions.
AI Scribe is a Clinical AI feature. Your organization must have access to Clinical AI for AI Scribe to be available in the mobile app.
Note: This feature is currently behind a feature flag and may not be available in all environments.
Start AI Scribe from the Mobile App
In Provet, open a consultation.
Start AI Scribe on the consultation:
On the old consultation page: select AI Scribe at the top right of the page.
On the new consultation page: go to the AI Scribe section, above Clinical notes.
Open the phone recording option:
On the old consultation page: select Click here to record from your phone.
On the new consultation page: select Mobile in the AI Scribe section.
A QR code opens.
Open the Provet mobile app.
Go to the AI Scribe page.
Select Scan AI Scribe code to scan the QR code displayed on your screen.
Accept the required permissions.
Record Consultation Notes
In the Provet mobile app, open the AI Scribe page and tap Start to begin recording. The transcription is sent to the active consultation on the desktop.
If needed, tap Pause to pause the recording and resume it later.
After pausing, you can tap View in the transcription preview section to review the recorded notes. Then tap Resume to continue recording, Discard to delete the recording, or Done to finish.
Tap Done to initiate the note summary and transcription.
After tapping Done, you can:Tap Start over to delete the recording and begin again.
Tap Resume to continue recording.
Tap Resubmit to submit the transcription to the consultation.
If you want to discard the current recording and start again, select Start over. Note that starting over will delete the previous recording and related transcript.
Note: Always review AI responses before making a clinical decision.
Use AI Scribe in the Background
AI Scribe continues recording when the app is in the background. You can lock your phone, switch to another app, or place the phone in your pocket while recording. A notification indicates that recording is active.
To return to the recording:
Tap the notification, or
Open the app and select AI Scribe in progress.
View and Manage Transcriptions
After recording, the transcription is uploaded to the consultation. Refresh the consultation page on desktop to view the notes.
In the consultation, you can:
Review the generated summary
Select Add to clinical note to save the summary. You can also change the note type before adding it to the clinical note; see Use AI Scribe in Consultations.
Select Transcription to view the full transcription.
In the Provet mobile app, on the AI Scribe tab, under AI Scribe history:
Select Open latest to open the most recent session.
Select View all items to open the AI Scribe sessions view. In the AI Scribe sessions view, you can enable the Include submitted transcriptions option to include submitted items in the session list.
Transcriptions are stored on the mobile device for 24 hours.
Note that transcriptions are linked to the selected environment and clinic location.
Use AI Scribe for Farm or Ambulatory Visits
For farm, stable, or other ambulatory visits where no desktop is available at the point of care, link your phone to the consultation before you leave. Once the link is made, you can dictate notes on your phone throughout the visit, and the transcription syncs to the consultation automatically.
Before You Leave
Open the consultation for the visit on your computer and start AI Scribe from the mobile app, as described in Start AI Scribe from the Mobile App above. This links your phone to the consultation.
Confirm the link is active before you leave. The AI Scribe page in the mobile app shows the linked consultation.
During the Visit
Dictate your notes as you go. Procedures, medications, and findings are picked up by the microphone throughout the visit. Recording continues if you lock your phone or put it in your pocket; see Use AI Scribe in the Background above. If you need to stop briefly, tap Pause and Resume when you are ready to continue.
Back at the Clinic
Once you tap Done, the transcription and summary sync to the consultation. Refresh the consultation on desktop to review the notes, as described in View and Manage Transcriptions above. If AI Actions is enabled for your organization, you can also review and add suggested actions from the visit; see Use AI Actions in Consultations.
