Edit a health plan to add or delete items and item groups. When the health plan has current subscriptions, you choose whether each change also applies to those subscriptions.
Open a Health Plan for Editing
To open a health plan for editing:
Select the clinic location name in the top-left corner, then select Settings.
Go to Lists & Templates > Health plan.
Under Health plan templates, select the pen button on the health plan you want to edit.
The health plan opens for editing. Settings is visible only to users with the required permissions. If you do not see Settings, contact your practice administrator.
Add or Delete Items and Item Groups
When you add or delete items and item groups on a health plan, current subscriptions change only if you select the Update to active plans or Remove from active plans checkbox. If you do not select the checkbox, the change applies only to new subscriptions.
The Update to active plans checkbox is shown only when you add an item with an item type button, for example + Procedure or + Laboratory analysis. If you add an item with the search field, the item is added without the checkbox, and current subscriptions do not get the item.
To change the items and item groups on a health plan:
To add an item, select an item type button, find the item, and select Update to active plans if current subscriptions must also get the item.
To add an item group, select the Item Group button, find the item group, and select Update to active plans if current subscriptions must also get the item group.
To delete an item or an item group, select the trash can button. To also delete it from current subscriptions, select Remove from active plans in the dialog.
You can edit the contents of item groups in Settings > Lists & Templates > Health plan. When you change the items in an item group, for example to replace a discontinued product, all health plans that use the item group are updated, including current subscriptions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Adding or Removing an Item on a Health Plan Change Current Subscriptions?
Adding or removing an item on a health plan changes current subscriptions only if you select Update to active plans or Remove from active plans. The Update to active plans checkbox is shown only when you add the item with an item type button, not with the search field.
Why Is a New Health Plan Item Missing from a Patient's Subscription?
A patient's subscription gets a new health plan item only if Update to active plans was selected when the item was added. Without it, the item is charged on the invoice instead of being deducted from the health plan.
To add the item to current subscriptions:
Delete the item from the health plan.
Add the item again with an item type button, for example + Medicine.
Select Update to active plans, then select Save.
Current subscriptions now include the item.
Why Do Changes to an Item Not Reach Current Subscriptions?
When you change the quantity, the price or the Unlimited uses setting of an item that is already in the health plan, the change applies only to new subscriptions. The Update item dialog has no Update to active plans checkbox.
To change the item in current subscriptions:
Delete the item from the health plan.
Add the item again with an item type button, for example + Procedure, with the new values.
Select Update to active plans, then select Save.
Current subscriptions now include the item with the new values.
Does the Subscription Price Change When I Edit a Health Plan?
No. The price of current subscriptions does not change when you edit a health plan. Before you change a health plan that has current subscriptions, check that the change does not break the contract with the client.
