View a Consultation Page Using a Custom View Mode

A custom view mode shows the sections of a consultation page as open, closed, or hidden, based on the settings defined for that view mode.

Note: The new consultation page is being released from 16 September 2026. It becomes the default consultation page on 28 September 2026, and the old consultation page is planned to be retired in October 2026. Until then, you can switch between the two versions from the top of the consultation page. This article covers both versions.

Before you can use a custom view mode, the feature must be turned on for your clinic location.

  1. Select the clinic location name in the top left corner, then select Settings.

  2. Go to General > Clinic location > Consultation advanced settings.

  3. Select Allow users to create custom view mode.

To open a consultation page, in the left side-panel select Dashboard. Under Recent consultations, select the stethoscope button at the end of the row. Depending on your organization, this opens either the old or the new consultation page. Follow the steps below for the version you see.

On the Old Consultation Page

If the consultation page opens in the new version, select Return to old version first.

  1. On the Consultation heading row, select the cogwheel button, to the right of Tools.

  2. From the menu that opens, select Edit custom view mode.

On the New Consultation Page

  1. Select Standard view, at the top right of the page.

  2. From the drop-down list, select Custom view.

  3. Select the filter button next to Standard view to choose which sections are visible, and to set this as your default view if wanted.
