Cancel Patient Check-In

If a patient has been checked in by mistake, you can cancel the check-in. You cannot cancel the check-in if the consultation already has a diagnosis, e-prescriptions, clinical signs, or treatment plans linked to it.

Note: The new consultation page is being released from 16 September 2026. It becomes the default consultation page on 28 September 2026, and the old consultation page is planned to be retired in October 2026. Until then, you can switch between the two versions from the top of the consultation page. This article covers both versions.

Cancel a Check-In From the Appointment Calendar

This works the same way for both versions of the consultation page.

  1. In the left side-panel, select Calendar.

  2. Right-click the appointment of the patient who is checked in. A menu opens.

  3. Select Cancel check-in. This option is only available after the patient has been checked in.

Cancel a Check-In on the Old Consultation Page

  1. Open the consultation of the patient who is checked in.

  2. In the panel on the right-hand side of the page, select Cancel check-in. It sits below the View invoice and Start consultation buttons.

Cancel a Check-In on the New Consultation Page

  1. Open the consultation of the patient who is checked in.

  2. In the action bar at the bottom of the page, select Cancel check-in, next to Go to invoice. It stays available whether the consultation is still checked in or already in progress.

What Happens When a Check-In Is Cancelled

The consultation is set to the draft state. The appointment status changes to 'Upcoming' and patient referral statuses change to 'Appointment booked'. The consultation items (medicines, foods, and so on) are deleted. The consultation invoice is not deleted, even though the consultation is set to the draft state.

When the patient is checked back in to the consultation, diagnostic imaging and patient referral statuses are set back to what they were, and consultation items that were linked to a consultation reason type are re-added. Other items are lost.
